Our story

How Winston-Salem Roofing works

Winston-Salem's roofs span centuries. Old Salem is a Moravian settlement with more than 50 restored buildings, the West End Historic District has 508 contributing buildings put up from about 1887 to 1930, and Bethania, founded in 1759, holds the largest historic district in Forsyth County at about 500 acres. Alongside them sits a great deal of postwar housing: the city's median year built is 1977, with about 15,546 homes from the 1970s and 18,059 from the 1980s. A roof can be a flashing-and-chimney puzzle on one street and a plain asphalt shingle gable a mile away.

The weather asks different things of each. Severe thunderstorm warnings for Forsyth County have cited 60 to 70 mph gusts and quarter-size hail. Freezing rain in February 2021 caused more than 75,000 outages at its peak around the Triad, and a winter storm in February 2026 left ice on roads and trees down. In between come humid summers and the algae and moss that thrive on shingles in damp, shaded corners.

Winston-Salem Roofing exists because those problems turn up when you do not have a roofer in your phone. The line asks what you can see and where you are, then puts you through to a roofer who works in your town. The inspection, the quote, the permit conversation and the work all belong to that roofer, and this site tries to give you the questions to ask before you say yes.

A fair question, answered plainly

Who the roofer is, and why no licence number appears here

When you ring Winston-Salem Roofing, your details go to one independent roofing contractor who serves your area, our partner for that call. That contractor, not this line, sends the crew, writes the quote and does the roofing, and the contractor's own name goes on the contract you sign.

North Carolina issues no roofing licence of its own. A project costing $40,000 or more has to be done by a general contractor licensed by the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors, and a Specialty Contractor classification for roofing exists for work under that figure. Ask the roofer on the call, or when the roofer rings ahead, which one applies and what the number is, then look it up with the board before you agree to anything.

No contractor number is printed on this website because of the privacy of a small local business, and for no other reason. You can have it for the asking, and the state's lookup will confirm it before a single shingle comes off.

What we hold ourselves to

Start on the ground

Every call begins with what you can see from the yard or the street. Nobody on the line will ask you onto a wet, iced or limb-strewn roof, and neither should a roofer you have just met.

The roofer sets the price

Published figures for the area differ by source, so the pages here give a range for asphalt shingle only and label it an estimate. Your number comes from the roofer, in writing, before work begins.

Check the licence yourself

North Carolina issues no roofing licence. It licenses general contractors for larger projects, and the licensing board has a lookup you can use in a few minutes.

Clear about the limits

The line does no roofing, does not adjust or settle claims, and cannot say whether your insurer will pay. Those belong to the roofer and to your insurer.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does Winston-Salem Roofing have its own roofers?

No. Winston-Salem Roofing is a call line, and the roofing is carried out by an independent contractor who serves your town. That contractor sets the price and answers for the work. The line saves you the search when water is already coming in.

Why does the site not list a company address?

Because there is no roofing yard, shop or crew to visit. The business shows only Winston-Salem, NC 27101. The independent roofer who takes your call is the one who comes to your house, and you can ask for that contractor's details on the call.

Can the line promise when a roofer will arrive?

No. A roofer comes when one is free, and after a big storm many people are calling at once. If water is coming in, say so on the call, because it affects whether a temporary cover is the first step.

Does the line handle insurance claims?

No. The line does not file, adjust or negotiate claims, and it cannot say whether your insurer will pay. A roofer can photograph and describe what he or she finds, and you take that to your insurer.
